Meet our School Safeguarding Officers

South Parade Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent, effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.  All concerns are passed through a member of staff, all of who are trained as ‘Designated Child Protection Officers’ in school in compliance with the ‘sharing of information’ guidance.

The Child Protection Designated Safeguarding Officers are Mrs R Peace, Mrs E Fieldhouse, Mrs S Banks and Mrs A Fowles.

If you have any serious concerns about your child or any other pupil at South Parade Primary School please do not hesitate to contact one of our Child Protection Designated Officers.

OUR SCHOOL'S LEARNING MENTOR

Mrs Banks

I am the Learning Mentor for South Parade Primary School which is a very diverse role and covers many aspects of school life.  I am also one of the school's Designated Safeguarding Officers.

I am here for your child/children to offer a safe and comfortable environment.  I can give them one to one attention if they have any worries or just need to talk/make sense about something that is on their mind.  This will then enable them to succeed in their learning.

I liaise closely with many external agencies and am knowledgeable about who to signpost families to depending on specific needs. We work together to give families as much support as possible.

I also work closely with our Mental Health Lead, Mrs Fowles, again to support our children and families in the most suitable way possible.

I have an extensive range of training which includes various forms of counselling.  I am also an affiliated Heart Start Instructor which qualifies me to teach children lifesaving skills.

If you have any concerns regarding your child please do not hesitate to contact me on 01924 302875, or please feel free to call in to see me.

OUR SCHOOL'S SENCo and Mental Health Lead

Mrs Fowles

Hello,  I am the Special Education Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) here at South Parade Primary school.

I have twenty four years SEN experience and have a post graduate qualification in Special education needs. I am passionate about ensuring that all children access a full and broad curriculum and that their time at school is a happy and enjoyable experience.

As SENCo I ensure that all staff are informed and updated about children on the SEN register and that all have an understanding of how best to help and support a child with SEN by providing professional guidance and delivering in house training. I work closely with teachers, support staff and outside agencies, therapists and other professionals to ensure all of our pupils' needs are met.

If you have a child with special needs and need help, advice or a sympathetic ear please do not hesitate to call the school where I would love to chat to you either over the telephone or in person.

I look forward to hearing from you.
