Hello parents, as the news is changing often in regards to Covid - 19 we are ensuring that should your child be absent from school that they have access to some lovely activities at home that they would be doing in school with us.

Phonics

The children are now in phonic groups where we are exploring all sorts of sounds in our learning provision both indoor and outdoor. We have taken our children on some wonderful listening walks where the children used their super listening ears to see what sounds were around us. This would be a lovely activity to do at home as it can be around your home and in your garden. The children are also learning about the different animals we have in our world and the noises they make through nursery rhymes and song. Finally, we are looking at different objects that we can find to make different noises including our own bodies and how we can make sounds ourselves. Making patterns and songs using different sounds we know would be a lovely listening activity to do with your child. smiley

Expressive Art and Design

The children are wonderful artists and they are trying so hard in our nursery to experiment with different colours and materials to create their masterpieces. In link with our class topic of Marvellous Me and My Family during session the children have been creating some wonderful pictures of themselves and their families using a range of paints, pens and pencils. Also the children have been creative and have made their own faces with materials they have found in Nursery and have been able to discuss the different materials and how they feel. This would be something lovely to develop further at home with your child to make your faces and other members of family to go with theirs.

Number work

The children will be starting special carpet time sessions during Nursery for number and shape work after Half term to ensure they are not too overwhelmed immediately with beginning phonics, story and carpet time groups as well. In the mean time we have been exploring different shapes in our provision and singing some lovely counting songs at carpet time. Counting at home is encouraged, as well when the children return after half term we will have the Nursery setting labelled with numbers to help them with their counting skills but also at tidy up time.
