Class 15 Mrs Whiteley

Booking a test - option to choose

Coronavirus update

We are writing to inform you that we have had a rise in cases of Covid-19 in year 6.

We now have 6 confirmed cases (and one positive LFT awaiting confirmation).

Whilst we don't want to alarm you, we always like to be transparent and keep you informed and up to date.

We have taken advice from our local public health team who are currently in conversations with us. Their advice so far is:

  •  For ALL pupils and staff in the year 6 cohort to book a PCR test as soon as possible. Children CAN still attend school whilst waiting for their results as long as they are not displaying any symptoms. We are aware that test services are busy so if their appointment is during the school day, please make sure you phone the office before 9.10 to order their dinner. You can book a test online or by phoning 119. You can tick the option to say your child has been in contact with someone who has tested positive
  • Swimming for this week (tomorrow) will be cancelled
  • The children will eating their lunches in classrooms for as short a period as possible and will be in their own bubbles both inside and outside - please be assured that we will monitor this daily

We will continue to follow public health advice and will keep you up to date.

We are doing everything we possibly can to minimise any disruption to the children's education, however your child and family's health is paramount.

Thank you for your continued support.

PE - Games

PE this year will take place on a Monday.  For PE, children require a white t-shirt and black shorts. For games activities outside, children need a white t-shirt, black shorts and trainers. Track suits, preferably plain, may be worn for games during winter months. All clothing should be clearly labelled. Jewellery must not be worn for sporting activities and long hair should be tied back.

We hope that we will be able to start swimming on a Friday during the autumn term but Covid restrictions will determine this.

The aim is for every child to read at least three times a week. Children do not need to read to an adult if they are an able reader but we would ask that all children have their reading record signed each time they have read (this includes Bug Club books). Individuals who read three times in a week will be able to write their name on our class window to celebrate their success. Children who are reading a school book should return it as soon as they have finished it so that it can be changed quickly.

Mrs Whiteley's English group will be given spellings to learn on a Monday and they will have a test the following Monday. Maths and English homework will be given during the week and we will go through this in class on a Friday.  Once again, children who return their homework will celebrate by writing their name on the window.
