Early Years Foundation Stage
Children can talk about a familiar place.
Year 1
Children can describe a place using drawings and a developing geographical vocabulary e.g. on, next to, behind, road, building, hill, etc.
Year 2
Children can describe the physical and human features of their local area.
Year 3
Children can describe the physical and human features of places they have studied.
Year 4
Children can compare the physical and human features of places they have studied and given reasons for these similarities and differences.
Year 5
Children can suggest some ways in which human and physical processes can change an environment.
Year 6
Children can describe how physical and human processes have led to similarities and differences in environment and the lives of the people who live there.
