Coronavirus update

Dear Parents/Carers

We will be updating our website on a regular basis to keep you informed around the latest developments re: Covid-19 and the effects on schools.

Today, we have made some further changes to our lunchtime routines. Children are having staggered lunches so that numbers in the hall are less than usual. This worked really well today. We will continue this system for the foreseeable future.

Children will, from today, be bringing home some form of home learning packs with a sample timetable of what a day ‘learning at home’ would look like. These will look different in each year group. The reason we are sending these home as soon as possible is simply because some pupils/ families are self-isolating due to a cough or a temperature above 37.8. This does not mean that we have pupils with Coronavirus but it is government advice to stay at home should your child have any of these symptoms. There is no plan as yet to close schools but we again are unsure if and when this may happen. The packs contain some learning which will require on-line learning and children have been given instructions of how to access this information and taught how to do so. We feel that at South Parade we are prepared for the near future for educating our pupils and we don’t expect you to become teachers overnight so we have deliberately chosen activities that will consolidate learning and reinforce learning that children  have ‘touched on’ in school. We are also training staff in systems where we can keep communication open between you and the teachers as whatever the future looks like our teachers will remain your child’s teacher whether your child is in school or not.

In line with strict government guidance please do not send your child into school if they have any of the following symptoms:

A new persistent cough or/and a temperature above 37.8 degrees. Please can you support us to stick to these guidelines even if you feel the symptoms are mild. If your child begins to show any of these symptoms whilst in school we will call you to collect.

Whilst we appreciate that this is a period of worry and unknowns for many it is important that as community we keep each other safe and support each other.

Mrs Peace and the Staff at South Parade
