Our Wish Tree - We all have different gifts and talents here in Class 9. We celebrated these and then made a wish (target) and put it on our wish tree. At the end of this term we will look again at our wish and see if we have achieved it.
The Class Chain - This chain represents everyone in our class. For us to be a successful team our chain should never break.
Maths Place value - We really enjoyed using Base 10 to look at the value of hundreds numbers
Self portraits - After experimenting with sketching pencils we gave each other feedback on how to improve. Then we used chalk pastels to create a self portrait. Do you recognise anyone?
Henri Matisse - Painting with scissors - We learnt about Henri Matisse's life and then created a montage in his style to represent ourselves
Our first music lesson with Mrs Ryder
CAVE ART Just look at us imagining that we are living in The Stone age and creating art work on the walls of our caves.
A Stone Age village - Can you spot the hunter/gatherers? Or the people starting fires with flint and sticks? There are also people preparing animal skin for clothes and preparing the meat and fish for smoking and cooking. We even had jewellery makers using the bones and teeth from the animals! Do you know how they cooked their soup?
We had a great time recreating Neolithic round houses with clay and straw! We even went outside to find sticks and stones to build a hearth and tools for hunting. We enjoyed making a bed and placing things on the shelves that we had made. Our Plasticine fires were realistic too!

When Stonehenge WAS built in a day!
What a fabulous day we had on our school trip yesterday! It was wonderful to be able to spend the whole day in the great outdoors. We made bows and arrows, learned hunting skills, went on a deer hunt, cooked bread over the open fire and so much more. We all truly enjoyed our day together with Green Man Learning.
Homework project presentations
What's inside the Earth?
A Child’s Garden By Michael Foreman - We recreated the illustrations in this beautiful book by layering pencil crayon to mix colours and create depth to our pictures. Then, we worked together to make a vine for the classroom and filled it with poppies as a mark of respect during remembrance for the fallen and colourful flowers to represent hope.
Class 9 Christmas concert
Homework projects - Volcanoes (and a lot of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda!)
A very happy Christmas party!
We had a great time exploring theories we had about magnets. If you see a member of Class 9, ask us about our key question we thought about and discussed after this lesson - 'If you drop your purse on the floor and all the coins fall out; can you use a magnet to pick them all up?'. We were intrigued by what we found out!
Gardening Fun. Class 8 and 9 got together to work outside in the sunshine. They worked hard to clear the raised beds and plant some new seeds. Everyone had lots of fun getting muddy and enjoying the nature.
Pancake Day - We tucked into some delicious pancakes today! Thank you to Mrs Banks and Mrs Yates for making them for us!
We had a great time in Class 9 celebrating World Book Day. The children and staff really enjoyed coming to school in their pyjamas and sharing their favourite books with each other.
We had a debate about what Moses should do. Should he continue to follow God and stand up to the Pharaoh or leave the Jews to be slaves and look after himself and his family. Then we set up a conscience alley in the classroom and Moses asked advice. Finally he made his decision…
Red nose Day!
We hope that you were spoilt on Mothers Day - here are some of our lovely cards
Our Grassheads have lots of character! We have learnt that grass only needed water to grow
We have had a fantastic morning decorating our cakes for the Bake off competition! Which one do you like best?
Trampolining - Some of our children were very lucky and had the opportunity to go trampolining at Ossett Academy. We had a great time!
We have been having a great time, learning lots about cricket and gaining lots of skills during our sessions on a Monday with Gurman.
EOCT Big Build Lesson 3 - Planning. Rob taught Year 3 all about how important planning is in many areas of our lives. We then worked in groups to plan our own new town for if we landed on a new planet!
A Royal Tea Party - We celebrated the end of our 'It's reigning Kings and Queens' topic by having cucumber sandwiches and custard creams in the sunshine.
A happy place! During Healthy week we talked about how to have a healthy mind. We practised good breathing and tried out different relaxation techniques. These are some pictures of our happy places that we visited in our minds to relax us and make us feel warm, safe and happy.
Skipping - We had our skipping session under the gazebo because some of us were beginning to catch the sun but we still had plenty of room and lots of fun!
During healthy week we learnt about how to look after our teeth. Watch our videos to find out how to keep your teeth healthy.
