  • SP FEST

    Thu 21 Jul 2022

    Hi all,

This weather really is against us this week! However, we are going ahead with SP Fest this afternoon, with a few changes to the layout as the grass is too wet to sit on.

The children will be seated in front of the stage, with chairs for the parents at the back. However, we don't have enough chairs for every single parent that is coming to watch so if you have camping chairs, folding chairs etc that you can bring please feel free to do so!

Gates will open at 12.45pm, with the festival set to begin at 1pm prompt.

    Thanks everyone!

  • SP FEST new date

    Mon 18 Jul 2022

We are pleased to let you know that we have re-arranged our activities this week and have organised for the SP FEST to go ahead this Thursday 21st July. We apologise that this is short notice, but we know that you will appreciate that the weather situation is beyond our control. As it is forecast for Thursday to be a much more bearable temperature, we will start at 1:00pm and you are welcome to stay for the afternoon. The children will stay out all afternoon to watch the other performances as originally planned.

Please make sure your child is equipped with a hat, sun cream and water.

Mr Tyrrell will share the new running order on the Class Stories on Dojo.  Some parts of the event are unfortunately not able to go ahead - Rock Steady are completely booked up this week so the bands won't be able to perform. (We will re-schedule this for the new term).  Also please bear with us with our technical equipment - we were going to use theirs!

The children have been enjoying practising their performances and are looking forward to being able to perform them for you.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

  • Hot weather & SP Fest

    Sun 17 Jul 2022

    Good afternoon,

Even though we have spent time risk assessing, changing and adjusting the plans for SP FEST, we are now unfortunately having to cancel to ensure the safety of our children and our families due to the forecast of extreme heat. Please be assured that over the next two days we have plans in place to make sure your children are as cool as possible including increased water stops and other creative ways. Please make sure children come to school with suncream, a water bottle and a hat. We will be limiting time outside and will make decisions around this based on shade, breeze etc on the day but if children do go out it will be for a very short time. The children can wear their PE kit for the next two days if you wish. Again, we are ever so sorry, these decisions are the hardest part of our job.
We will look at the plans for the rest of the week tomorrow and decide if we can rearrange in some form.
Thank you for your continued support.

  • Hot weather measures

    Fri 15 Jul 2022

The government advice is to take extra measures in school on Monday and Tuesday which of course we will be doing.

Can we please ask that you help us to keep the children sun safe too.

All children MUST wear sun-cream and a hat on Monday and Tuesday – if you do not have any of these items and are unable to get them please let your teacher know and we can support you. They must also have a water bottle with them that they can top up throughout the day with cold water.

For the SP FEST on Tuesday we have fully risk assessed the afternoon and we will be going ahead but your child will only spend their performance part of the session outside plus the chance to watch one other song in the shade. We have decided that our children have missed many opportunities over the past two years and built up to things to then be let down – this will provide a safe compromise.

We are advising that parents try and limit their time with us to just their own children’s performances – see the timetable of events. We will try our best to stick to these timings. We will only be having the main gate  (top gate nearest main entrance) open on the day as due to safeguarding reasons we must limit entry points. Also for any families that have multiple siblings we will provide classroom 5 as an area where you can wait if you would like to between performances particularly if you have babies and toddlers. There will be cold water in this room available should you need this – but please bring  a drink with you also.  Due to the extreme heat we will not be providing a drinks/snack stall as previously planned as these items would become too warm but do feel free to bring these with you and place all waste in bins provided. (No alcohol please).  As usual, no dogs permitted on our school grounds.

We are really looking forward to our SP FEST and although it will not run as we originally planned we will still have a fun time together.

Thank you for your continued support.

  • SP FEST update

    Wed 13 Jul 2022

    Good Afternoon,

We have been keeping a close eye on the weather ready for our much-anticipated SP FEST next Tuesday (19th July pm).

It is predicted to be very warm with temperatures around 27 degrees. In response to this we have been forced to re-look at our plans for the afternoon.

The children are very excited and ready to perform but we also need to ensure our children, and families, are safe and not exposed to the sun for a long period of time. Therefore, we have decided to provide you with a running order with ESTIMATED times (see below) to help avoid you sitting through the whole afternoon, if this is something that you would prefer to do. The children in our care will then complete their performance on the stage and then instead of sitting through the whole festival, they will watch the next performance before returning to class. This allows our pupils to perform and be the audience whilst ensuring that the children are not outside for too long.

The Rock Steady Bands will also perform as planned. This will take place halfway through the concert.

This, to us, seems like a compromise which allows our children to still take part and enjoy the day.

If you are not attending the whole show can we please ask that you enter the school grounds quietly and find a place to sit in the allocated area until you are ready to leave – after all, a real festival has some fluidity of adults around the grounds!

We look forward to seeing you on the day for as long as you feel comfortable!

(Please note, if the weather is cooler - around the 20 degree mark- we will run the event as usual).

    Thank you,

    Mrs Peace
