  • Book of Condolence

    Wed 26 Apr 2023

You may notice that we have tied some ribbons to the trees along the path and on the railings outside of Class 7 as a mark of respect for Freya. They are in her favourite colour - pastel green. We will be creating a forever memory in the forthcoming weeks working with family wishes.

There is a book of Condolence in Classroom 5 and this will be open 8:50 – 9:30 and 2:50 – 3:50 for anyone that would like pay their respects and write a message.

  • Letter to parents - please read

    Mon 24 Apr 2023

Your child will have this letter in their school bag. We wanted to send this earlier so that you have a chance to read this information prior to seeing your child.

    Dear Parents/Carers,

It is with great regret and sadness that I am writing to inform you of the sudden death of one of our pupils in Year 2 in Mrs Iveson’s class following a short and sudden illness.

We as a school are very shocked and saddened by this tragic news and our thoughts are with family and friends at this difficult time.

Our main aim in school today has been to provide support to the staff and children by ensuring that the usual routines are in place and by maintaining a calm atmosphere. We have shared the sad news to the children within their classes this morning. We have given children time to talk, ask questions and process what has happened. The expression of feelings resulting from bereavement is an essential part of the grieving process and support is in place to assist the pupils with this.

During this difficult time, we are being supported by the Educational Psychology Service in school and this help will continue as necessary during the next few days.

Please refer to our loss and bereavement page on our website. This will help you to support your children with questions and feelings they may have. The Winston’s wish and Child bereavement UK links are particularly helpful.

Tomorrow in classroom 5, parents will have the opportunity to speak to school staff and the educational psychologist service to answer any questions you may have and to offer relevant support and guidance.

As always, we will look after each other and offer care and support to all of our children and families.
