  • Summer 2023 update

    Fri 21 Jul 2023

Well … another year has passed us by and there have been some great moments. Firstly, well done to all our children for working so hard. Special mention to Y6s and Y2s with your great SAT results. Well done to our Y4s for your higher than national scores in your times table tests and our Y1s for excellent phonic results. Well done also to our youngest children for working so hard in Early Years - we have some great mathematicians and readers ready to enter year one!

Even though our SPFEST was disrupted by the rain it was an amazing day seeing our talented and ever so confident young people perform - what stars we have.

Next year we look forward to extending our after-school club offers, the launch of our new breakfast club (hopefully after October half term) and we can’t wait to develop and open the beautiful wildlife area in memory of our lovely Freya - Freya ‘s Garden (thank you for your very kind donations).

We also have some sad goodbyes. Mr Tyrrell will be leaving us and whilst we wish him all the luck in perusing his career, we will miss him dearly. Mr Shaw has been amazing in supporting our pupils since the pandemic with booster groups and tutoring but he leaves us (again). Mrs Yates will also be leaving us to spend more time with her beautiful family and she also will be dearly missed - the children will miss her nurturing nature. We also say goodbye to the lovely Mrs Adamson who has worked across many year groups and know lots of our children; Mrs Gough who has only been with us for a short time but leaves to pursue her career as a teacher and Mrs Kenny who will leave us to go to work in specialist provision. We are also very sad to say a huge goodbye to Mrs Oldroyd who we really will miss dearly. She has made a difference to so many of our children’s lives. She will also be enjoying her time as a new grandma very soon- we wish her all the best.

We do have a new Y5 teacher joining us who has already met her new class - Miss Pepper. We look forward to welcoming her to our South Parade family.

Also, we have some weddings over the summer break. Miss Hayley will be coming back as Mrs Marsden and Miss Kent will be changing her name to Mrs Allatt, we wish them both the best of luck on their very special days. Also, I will also be getting married in the summer so I will be returning with a new name too. I will be Mrs Hedges from September!

Thank you for all of your continued support this year and I wish you all a fantastic summer break with your loved ones.

Mrs Peace and South Parade Staff

  • SP Fest new arrangements

    Mon 17 Jul 2023

We are very much looking forward to our SP Fest tomorrow. The children can't wait to perform!

We have had to change our plans due to the weather forecast predicting rain.

If we were to go ahead outdoors, if it started to rain this would risk damage to our electrical equipment and if the stage was to become slippery this would be a risk to our pupils.

We will go ahead with our event but it will be held in the school hall.

Due to the capacity in the hall we will have to limit numbers of people attending to watch, to two per family please.

Children will perform in their year groups so please only attend for your child's performance.

Please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled time as we will aim as best we can to run to a tight time schedule.

We will ask to wait outside or in classroom 5 as a holding area.

    1:00 Reception (Class 1 + 2)

    1:25  Year 1 + 2 (Class 3, 4, 6 +7)

    2:00  Year 3 + 4 (Class 8, 9, 10 + 11)

    2:45  Year 5 +6 (Class 12, 13, 14 +15)

We also intend to film every performance so that all children get to watch the whole show later in the week.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

  • Y3 + Y4 Sports Day

    Mon 10 Jul 2023

The children in year 3 and 4 are looking forward to their sports day.

However, currently the weather forecast is not looking in our favour as it is predicting rain this afternoon. (75%-88% chance of rain). Although it is fine now it is giving this high percentage of rain this afternoon.

We may have to postpone but we will continue to check the forecast and let you know at 11am.

It won't be safe for them to do races if it is raining and the grass is wet and slippery.

    Thanks for your understanding.

  • ParentPay

    Thu 06 Jul 2023

    Change to ParentPay

After some research and from talking to admin staff at other schools, we have made the decision to move to ParentPay.

You may already be aware as the activation letter has already been emailed out this morning to all parents to sign up to ParentPay.

This is for payments such as dinners, trips, after school clubs, breakfast clubs etc.

From September we will no longer be using school money.  Parents who have not received this email may need a print out copy which can be requested from the office.

    Thank you for your support.

  • KS1 Sports Day UPDATE

    Tue 04 Jul 2023

UPDATE: Please note that siblings may also be collected from classroom doors.

    KS1 sports day arrangements

We are looking forward to our KS1 sports day this afternoon. It starts at 2pm but we will open gates at 1.45pm. Please make your way to the field. We will be doing a potted sports style event where children will work in groups and move from one activity to the next as a team. Therefore you will be able to follow the team around the field watching each event.

When sports day finishes the children will return to their classrooms.

You are welcome to collect them early from the classroom doors.

    Thank you
