  • Egg Day update

    Fri 24 Mar 2023

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We would like to make a change to the plans for Egg Day this year.

Currently, there is a shortage of eggs available due to bird flu and rising energy costs. We feel that as one of our school rules is:  'Be tidy and look after property and the Earth. Do not waste or damage things' then we should consider all aspects of our curriculum delivery.

We know the prices of eggs are also rising and are also not as freely available.

Therefore, taking all of the above into consideration, we are going to keep the theme of Egg Day next Wednesday but we will use our own 'fake' eggs for the day.

I hope you understand - it will in return save you looking for eggs to bring into school!

    Thanks for your continued support.

    Mrs Peace

  • EGG DAY 29th March

    Tue 21 Mar 2023

    EGG DAY

We are EGGCITED to let you know that we will be having SOUTH PARADE’S EGG DAY on Wednesday 29th March.

Please encourage your child to think about their design for the day and prepare what they will need to bring with them. Your child will need to bring hard-boiled eggs on Wednesday 29th March (in secure packaging – egg boxes are perfect), the number of eggs depends on the design, but allowing for breakages an extra egg will be invaluable.

Your child will also need to bring any resources (sequins/feathers/tissue paper/paint etc.) needed to construct the design at the school. Please help your child to think of a suitable name for the design (eggstinct/ eggciting/eggsample are past names).  We will only judge the designs that are made on the day in school. We have attached a PowerPoint (see noticeboard on website) with lots of examples from past entries to give you some inspiration. We look forward to seeing what the children come up with this year!

Nursery and Reception children - please wait to hear from your child's class teacher for their plans for EGG DAY.

The egg designs will be displayed in each classroom and the children will be able to go round and look at other children’s designs.

We will take lots of photographs to share with you all.

Thank you as always for your support.

  • Strike Action Update

    Wed 08 Mar 2023

    Dear parents/ carers,

As you will probably be aware, next Wednesday 15th March and Thursday 16th March have been identified by the National Education Union (NEU) as the next days of industrial action in their pay and funding campaign.

Members of the NEU are not obliged to let us know in advance of their intentions, but our staff have been co-operative and kind enough to offer this information so that you know what our situation is and that if needed, you can make alternative arrangements for childcare for the day.

The classes so far where the teacher has given advance notice of strike action is:

    Year 2, Class 7

Mrs Iveson will teach the class as normal on Wednesday morning and the children will have their lunch in school.

The teacher who is normally in class 7 on Wednesday afternoon will be taking strike action therefore the class will close at 1:15pm on Wednesday 15th March ONLY.

Please collect children from the classroom at 1:15pm.

Class 7 will be open as normal all day on Thursday 16th March.

    Year 3, Class 8

This class will be closed to pupils on both Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March.

    Year 3, Class 9

This class will be closed to pupils all day on Wednesday 15th March.

    Year 4, Class 10

This class will be closed to pupils on both Wednesday 15th March and Thursday 16th March.

If there are any changes or any other teachers decide to strike we will let you know as soon as possible.

Staff appreciate the inconvenience the action will cause and for that send their apologies. We would like to assure our school community that this is not a decision our teachers have taken lightly.

  • Communication

    Fri 03 Mar 2023

Please note that ALL notifications of pupil absence for any reason including leaving school to attend medical appointments MUST be reported to the school office.

Class Dojo enables staff to share photos, videos, announcements and celebrations as well as messaging between school and home.  Teachers will not be expected to respond to Class Dojo before

    8:15 am or after 4:30pm.

Class Dojo messages may not be read by teachers during the school day when the children are in attendance, and we do not expect teachers to communicate with the office regarding pupil absence sent on a Dojo message. They will presume the office has been contacted.
