Times Tables

What times tables should my child be learning?

 

The table below shows the National Curriculum expectations for each year group.

 

Year 1

Count in multiplies of 2, 5 and 10.

Year 2

Recall and use multiplication and division facts for 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

Year 3

Recall and use multiplication and division facts for 3, 4 and 8 times tables.

Year 4

Recall and use multiplication and division facts for tables up to 12 x 12.

Year 5

Revision of all times tables and division facts up to 12 x 12.

Year 6

Revision of all times tables and division facts up to 12 x 12.

 

 

  • TT Rock Stars Children in Year 3 and Year 4 will be familiar with the ever-popular Times Tables Rock Stars website. They will need their login details which they can get from their teachers.
  • Times Tables Practise individual times tables - earn certificates!

What useful website can my child use to help them learn their times tables?

 

Children enjoy learning their times tables through playing games and activities. Some of the best websites are:

The games which are against the clock challenge and develop a child's mental maths skills. Designed for 6 to 11 years olds, the activities can be matched to appropriate mathematical ability.
