Writing
In Year 2, we include special features in our writing. These are:
- Capital letters for names and the start of a sentence
- Punctuation marks to end sentences . ? !
- Commas in a list
- The correct tense - past or present
- Correctly spelt Y1 and Y2 common exception words
- Sensibly sized finger spaces
- Sensibly sized letters that are the correct way round and some children will join their handwriting
- Subordinating conjunctions - if, that, because, when
- Co-ordinating conjunctions - and, but, so
- Expanded noun phrases to add more detail
- Apostrophes for omission and possession
