Geography

In Year 3, we have covered:

- Angry Earth. We have learnt about natural disasters, why they happen and their impact, the layers of the earth and tectonic plates and how these link to volcanic eruptions and tsunamis.

- Land Use. We have learnt about what rural and urban land is and how and why land is used in certain ways. We have made sketch maps of our local area and taken part in fieldwork to collect this data.

Our current topic is South America: Amazon and Rainforests. We are learning where the rainforests in the world are, the layers of the rainforest, why they are important and we are also learning about significant South American countries and cities. We will be looking later in the unit into deforestation and the impact of this upon the continent and the wider world.
